Paul went off first to show him how it was done, and before he could get out of the water, Alex was already headed up the hill to take his turn. He got really mad and started crying because I made him wait for Daddy.
Here is the full shot of the falls. You can see Sari (I think) on the left in the purple rash guard, Paul holding Alex in the middle of the shot and me (Robyn) on the right.
Here they are getting ready to slide. Paul is giving him last minute instructions to hold his breath, etc. Notice that Alex is not crying at all, but he was looking a little worried. He was about to change his mind, but I started clapping and cheering for him from the sidelines (works every time) and he calmed down immediately.
Paul held him up as he went under the water so Alex wouldn't go under as deep as him.
Uncle Daniel waited at the bottom to grab Alex from Paul. You can see him in the yellow snorkel. Alex is just under the surface of the water in this shot.
Yay! He made it! He didn't really cry, but the lower lip popped right out until Mommy grabbed him out of the water. Then, he was all smiles and high-fives.
What a cute grin!I still can't believe he did it! I was thinking that he wouldn't go down until next year, but he was pretty insistent that this was the day. The funny thing is, he is usually scared of heights. He hates sitting on the kitchen counter, and will only do it if I stand right in front of him. But, you know, what's a waterfall compared to Mommy's scary kitchen?
I sure love this little boy! He is going to be such a great big brother! After he does something like this, I can't help but feel that he and his little brother will be getting into all sorts of trouble in no time...

I think that he is the youngest of all of us to go off of the falls. I think that he will be very scary as a teenager. LOL
Oh my gosh. I am amazed! I'VE never even gone off the falls and don't ever plan to. Hilarious. I can't believe you were climbing around up there. I would be afraid I'd slip and fall.
And where was I when this was going on? geesh! Way to go Alex. I remember my first time sliding....I sat for at least a half an hour thinking I was going to die.
GO ALEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ahahha shannon. ditto. nice one.
yeah, dom was like NO WAY. he was also very grumpy and clingy that day, but regardless he would hardly go in the water the entire camp trip. *sigh* next year will be different I vow.
I should get total photographers credit here! hah. That close of up Paul and alex up on the falls is precious! the others turned out great too!
So proud of alex. i was bragging to everyone!
He is so brave!! What a little BOY!!! Love it! Where is this anyway? Maybe we should take our (scar-d-cat) boys up to it... :)
Woohoo, go Alex!! He sure is a brave little guy! And those are great pics, you got such a good progression. Good job, Molly!
Funny, Nuala loved going lots of times last year, and Bran did it once and decided it was too cold, but this year they both were a little more wary. Just one time each and they were done. It'll be fun to see how next year goes. Maybe a train of little kids...yeah.
And yeah, good luck with two little daredevil boys... I'm sure they'll keep you on your toes ;)
