Austin is 9 Months Old!
Austin is getting big! (sort of) The doctor describes him as "short and fluffy." Not to say he is on the chubby side compared to his fellow baby friends, but i guess his height to weight ratio makes him this way. But his head size saves the day, because it hits somewhere way above average, making his overall measurements right smack in the middle of the percentile of kids his age. Not to say my baby is "average" by any means...:)
Here are his stats: Height-27 1/2 in., weight- 18 lb 14 oz, head circumrerence-18 1/4 in.
He is really getting into using sign language. And, as of this morning, he can sign milk, more, all done, and drink.
He also talks a lot! He is a real talker, especially at 6AM every morning! The only two words we can really understand are Mama and Da! This morning he was laying him bed with us, crawling all over me when he spotted his Daddy on the other side of Alex (who was also sleeping in bed with us). He exclaimed, "Da! Da!" and proceeded to climb over Alex and attack Pauls face.
Austin also waves goodbye, but sometimes it takes a little coaxing. He is really adorable, LOVES to snuggle, loves to give kisses, he also like to hug other people. If someone walk up to him that he likes he will reach for them, hug them around the neck and then trun around and try and leap back into my arms.
He also loves to have someone hold his hands so he can walk around. Uncle Ben is his offical "walking partner" and Austin thinks that that is his personal job. He actually expects it of him everytime he sees him. It is really cute.
We sure love this boy!

Austin gets comments about his eyes all the time. I don't know what they are talking about. :)He is really getting into using sign language. And, as of this morning, he can sign milk, more, all done, and drink.

"I don't want to grow up..."
Summer has finally arrived! Out come the slip-n-slide and the pool... Mommy (AKA Robyn, me) racing Alex to the finish.
Zizi (Rochelle) purchased the slip-n-slide last year on clearance for $5!
In the above picture Dominic is running down the track and Alex is wearing...well...his birthday suit.I had (emphasis on had) to teach Alex and Dominic how to use the slip-n-slide. :)
On Tuesdays, my mom watches Alex and Austin for me while I go work for a few hours, then i come back and get to visit for a couple of hours. Last tuesday was hot, hot hot, the first really hot day of summer that we have had so far. So, my mom finally was able to bring out her cool summer toys. Alex and Dominic really couldn't figure out how to use the slip-n-slide properly, and so I borrowed a suit from my mom and taught them how it is done. :)
Alex and I relaxing in Zizi's new pool. She got this for only $15 dollars at WalMart. It is a great pool for small price!
Dominic (left) and Alex (right) thought is was so cool that I was "swimming" with them.

Yes, the experience wouln't have been complete if I didn't attempt to jump into the pool like the boys. Dominic was pretty insistant that I was really missing out. I love how excited the boys were that I was jumping. Thanks Zizi for the fun day and for taking the pictures!

"It's looking at me!"
Scene : 6:30am, I am just finishing nursing Austin and I hear a little voice calling from the other room...
Alex(speaking quietly at first and then progressivly getting louder): "mom? mom? Mo-mmy. Mom? MOM?! MOM!!"
Robyn (walking into his room squiniting without my glasses): "What's that matter sweetie? Do you want to come to mommy and daddys bed?"
Alex: "It's looking at me."
Robyn: "What?" Oh, just come here and we can go lay down in my bed."
Alex (voice cracking and on the verge of tears): "IT's LOOKING at ME!"
He points to the closet. I squint my eyes in the direction of his hand. Oh dear. His dragon costume is laying atop a pile of blankets, staring at him with his big googley eyes, and sharp, sharp teeth...frightening indeed.
Alex: "IT'S LOOKING AT ME!"
So, yes, I slayed a dragon this morning. Not many people can say that these days.
As we were getting ready for church last sunday Alex was playing on the floor singing to himself as he often does. I recognized the tune as "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" but he put his own little spin on the words...
"Un-cle Dag-null had a farm, e-i-e-i-O. And on his farm he had a pig-hat, e-i-e-i-O. oink oink here, oink oink oink. Un-cle Dag-null had a farm, e-i-e-i-O."
Then he noticed I was listening and hammed it up a little more.
"UN-CLE DAG-NULL had a farm, e-i-e-i-OOOOO. On his farm he had a PIG-hat. Hat hat here, hat hat hat! HAHAHA! That funnee Mom?"
My little comedian. :)
By the way, "uncle Dagnull" is Alex's way of pronouncing "Uncle Daniel," who is serving a mission in California.
Uncle Daniel and Alex.
Ignore the date, this was taking in November 2011, the night before Daniel flew to the MTC.

Easter 2011
This first batch of pictures was from the Easter egg hunt held Saturday at the Stake Center (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). Our ward youth leaders put on a great hunt.
Left to Right: Creepy Bunny, Alex, Robyn
Alex showing off his catch.
I got the pictures a little backwards, so the pictures of him actually hunting for eggs are below.
He ended up going to one end of the hunting area and the other 10 or 15 kids were at the other, so he found quite a bit of eggs.
Alex loved it this year, since he actually sort-of understood what was going on.
Alex (in blue) and Dominic (in red) came over to our new house and Molly helped them paint and dye eggs. The rest of us were painting the inside of the house.
And, Alex just HAD to taste that egg, didn't he? I guess he wouldn't be Alex if he didn't taste it. :) Although I have been told he will eventually grow out of it. We'll see.
They both loved it so much.
Easter morning Alex woke up to find his Easter basket filled.
He received candy and a Toby the Train for his train set. He picked it out at the store the night before, but we made him "put it back" and said that maybe if he was lucky the Easter Bunny would get it for him. I didn't get any pictures from the fun Easter egg hunt that we had on Sunday at ZiZi's house. We had our Easter dinner around the campfire roasting hot dogs. It was a lot of fun.
I am seriously surprised Alex let the bunny touch him. He did insist I hold him, but he didn't freak out like he usually does.

Budding Photographer
Alex has been trying his hand at taking pictures lately. He is getting pretty good. Here are some of the best ones he has taken.
Mommy
Standing and Crawling
In the video Austin is still making the transition between the army crawl and the regular one. He is much faster now, but I don't have a more recent video.
On a side note, you might notice in the video that Alex is wearing his underwear backwards. I thought I had him convinced that the "pocket" goes in the front, but then he thought about it for a couple of days and infomed me that the "pocket" really goes in the back and the picture (duh!) goes in the front. hahaha
Eight months old and Can't Get Enough to Eat
This boy loves food. I mean he LOVES it! If you are eating Austin will literally sniff you out and attack you. We get about 100+ jars of baby food from WIC each month, but he will hardly touch the stuff because he wants the real thing!
Here he is eating spaghetti and meat sauce. I don't ever blend up his food, I just chop it really fine if it is meat or something. He prefers it that way because he insists on feeding himself. If I feed him with a spoon he usually won't even take a bite unless he is holding the spoon as it enters his mouth.
So, what is his favorite food? MEAT! Chicken, ham, pork, and especially steak! I just cut it up really small and he wolfs it down. He also eats mashed pototoes, whole canned green beans, cooked carrots, beans...pretty much anything as long as it is served whole (or in small pieces..not blended though).
Every morning while I am cooking breakfast he runs around the house in his walker and eats cheerios and raisins. When breakfast is ready he is transferred to his highchair where he usually eats scrambled eggs and fruit. Austin just amazes me with his eating habits. He has been a big eater since he was 4 months old. But, he seriously eats three full meals a day, plus all his snacking and frequent nursing...does he have a hollow leg? He is probably going to be a very expensive teenager to feed. You would think with all the food he eats that he would sleep through the night...I wish! I sure love him though!
