Visitors

Aunt Anastasia and Uncle Tyler Harman came to visit!

Alex LOVED having them stay with us! He especially warmed up to Tyler and was pretty sad when his "friend" (as he called him) had to leave. Austin was thrilled as always to have more people to entertain him.

The day they left, we gained three more kids! Paige, Connor and Gavin stayed with us for four days and three nights.

Gavin(above) and Alex(below) decided that it was warm enough to swim in the muddy rain water.

My mom made cinnamon roles for us to take home and we have a cinnamin role birthday party.

Left to Right: Connor, Gavin, Alex, Paige. We sang to everone at once, then re-lit the candles and did it all individually. I think the kids would have done it all day if I let them. :)

Happy Birthday Alex!

Happy Birthday Gavin!

Happy Birthday Connor!

Happy Birthday Paige!

And, Alex again. :) He was super excited about his "happy cake" as he calls it. He thanked ZiZi over and over again for the cinnamon roles.

The kids were all wonderful! Especially Paige and Connor who were BIG helpers with Austin and the little boys.

From Larva to Toddler

Happy First Birthday Alexander!
April 7, 2008: this is what Alex looked like just a couple of hours after he was pushed into the world!

I can't believe how much he has changed in such a short period of time!
He had a wonderful Birthday and was such a happy, funny boy all day!
We sang to him ...

...and then gave him the top of the cake to pulverize. He thought it was the highlight of the day!

Dominic was thrilled as well when Gramsi let him in on the deal. As you can see, Molly is in the background talking on the phone and has no idea that Dom is eating it.
The boys thought it was really fun to feed each other. Dominic actually stuck his fingers in Alex's mouth a few times and Alex didn't bite him (surprisingly). He gently sucked the cake and frosting off of his fingers.
Here is Dom, dancing with fire! I will do a post in the future about Alex's biting habits...then you will really understand why this can be so dangerous.

Sugar rush?

Presents were amusing. He still doesn't get the whole "unwrapping" part of it, but he did a little better than he did at Christmas.

Alex loves his new ball! Actually, he has been playing with it for a week and a half now, but still thinks it is the best toy on the planet. *sigh* If only all of our hopes a dreams could cost $2.39! Dom is the in the background eating the wrapping paper. Yummy!

He kept trying to put the ball on Dom's head.

He also got a new swing from Gramsi and Grandpa (to share with Dom). And some adorable bath toys, which I failed to get a picture of (also from Gramsi). Aunt Molly and Dom got him an adorable red hoody sweatshirt. I somehow missed a picture of it as well.

Alex had a Double B-Day party with his cousin Gavin on Sunday, because Aunt Anastasia and Uncle Mark were visiting from Portland. Gavin turned 1 on March 18. We are singing to them in this picture, which was apparently very frightening. I guess we won't tryout for American Idol.
Gavin and Alex both enjoyed the cake and presents.

All in all, Alex had a fun Birthday. He had his first haircut (I'll save that for another post). He also got to have his car seat turned around, which he absolutly LOVES!!! No more fighting to buckle him in his seat (at least for now). He thinks he is such a big boy and enjoys seeing his parents in the front seat instead of just hearing our disembodied voices. :) Every time we glance in the back seat he just grins at us.
We love Alex so much and are amazed at how much he grows and learns and changes minute by minute. And, although he his not as big as Fiona's 2 year olds, I still look at this 23 pounder and say, "He's HUGE! Was he really only 6 lbs 13 oz just one year ago?"

A Sticky Situation

Sometimes I wonder why I post, because no one seems to be looking at or commenting on our blog, but I guess I continue to do so in the hope that there are nameless-faceless bloggers out there who still enjoy a good laugh, a smile, but just don't have enough time to comment. This is what my mom and I keep telling ourselves anyways. Enough ranting...on to A Sticky Situation...

Setting: my house
Time: about 2:30
Scene: I am getting Alex and Gavin ready for naps. I change Gavin's poopy diaper and then I change Alex, but he escapes before I can get the fresh diaper on him. Not concerned, I let him enjoy his favorite pastime of running around naked while I feed Gavin his bottle. Then I take Gavin upstairs and put him in his bed. I come back downstairs and take Alex upstairs, nurse him, and put him in his crib. Meanwhile, I go and make dinner (check it out at serendipitykitchens.blogspot.com).

Two hours later I hear Alex crying so I go upstairs and lift him out of his crib. He has something on his face and I say, "What were you doing, eating chocolate?" That's when the smell finally hit me..."Oh no! I forgot to put a diaper on you!"
Yes, I did it, or should I say didn't do it...he was diaper-less for a good 2 hours, in his bed, sleeping most of the time, but from the looks of the brown fingerprints on his singing dog and all over the crib, he had a little play-date with the poo-monster as well. It was the biggest poopy mess i have ever had to clean up. This is coming from someone who has been sprayed in the face with poop.
Needless to say, Alex got a bath and Gavin woke up and had pooped (again!) and so he took a bath with Alex as well. They had a great time crawling around naked afterward.

Here is Gavin in front and Alex in back.

Here is the little poo-man himself.

Moral of the Story: Don't put a baby to bed without a diaper on.

I am hoping this story will help Megan feel a little bit better when I say I understand how she feels. Luckily, Heavenly Father gave us a sense of humor.

Rub-A-Dub-Dub...

Alex and his cousin Gavin had pictures taken last Thursday.

To get this picture we had to stick Alex in first and then Gavin sat on his little feet...it was a tight fit, but well worth it. :)

They are too cute for words!

This was the best picture taking experience we have had so far...
due to the fact that they got to wear their favorite suits!

Isn't he sweet?

I had to "borrow" the images from the website, so they are not cropped in very well and you can't make then any bigger. But, we wanted everyone to see how cute their little buns are!
