My mom made us a delicious dinner of steak and potatoes the day we came home from the hospital. She brought it to our house and my dad, Daniel and Ben came over, too. I mention this because she took this picture that night.

Molly created this. Austin is one day old. We came to Molly's house on our way home from the hospital to pick up Alex, and Molly did a little photo shoot with Austin while I was playing trains with Alex and Dominic, and Paul was buying plane tickets with John (we're going to Hawaii! more about that later).
The brothers! Man, Alex's head looks HUGE next to Austin's tiny newborn head! Alex is LOVIN' being a big brother! He adores his baby and refers to him mostly as "my baby" and sometimes "Austy." He rushes to soothe him everytime he cries, and loves to hold him. Austin was doing tummy-time a few days ago and was NOT liking it one bit, so he was crying pretty loudly. Alex wanted to pick him up and got really mad and upset when Paul stopped him. We finally had to end the tummy time, because it was upsetting Alex too much to see "his baby" crying. It was really sweet though.
Alex has carried Austin to me three or four times (YIKES!). I turn around and he is holding the baby saying, "Here go Mama." Luckily he hasn't dropped him. I have learned that they only safe place for Austin is in his swing, because Alex hasn't figured out how to un-buckle him yet (not for lack of trying).
Alex has tried to nurse him once, which I caught on film! (But, due to the broken computer, I will not be posting it until a later date). Austin was sitting on Alex's lap and he started crying. Alex lifts up his shirt, points to his nipple and says, "Baby dink my malk?" (talking to Austin) and then he cups his hand around Austin's face and says it again, "Baby dink my malk?" Then he looks at me and asks me a few times, "Mom, baby dink my malk?" The look on his face was one of complete sincerity! So cute!
We have been blessed with a very mild-mannered baby! Yes, we have actually gotten a few hours of sleep at night! He doesn't feel like he has to eat constantly at night like Alex did, and he has even gone 4 1/2 hours without eating one time! Of course, between feeding/changing Austin and Alex waking up and climbing into bed with us, I didn't (and don't) actually get that much sleep in one stretch, but I am still very impressed with Austin's sleeping habits.

Austin, one week old! Molly's friend/photographer Jolyn took his pictures when he was a week old. This is the only one that I have seen so far, but I will post more when I get them.
Austin pretty much slept for the first two weeks of his life, except when he wanted to eat or poop. (So much so that I thought something might be wrong...haha! I guess I am not used to such an uncomplicated baby...not that I thought Alex was that bad when he was a baby, but looking back I notice a major difference.) Now Austin is starting to have at least two periods of being awake during the day where he just looks around and waves his arms for about an hour. He is such a sweet little baby!
Thanks everyone (Aunt Pat and my Mom especially!) who brought us dinner and has helped us make the adjustment to having this new addition! We really appreciate it!
