Attack of the Ants & Making Cookies

Ok, so we have a small problem with ants... Here they are eating the poison nectar of death (aka Terro), which seems to work pretty well. I put it out, they flock to it, and then they disappear for a few weeks. But, then we have a big rain and suddenly I have little visitors again.
This seems like a small problem until they start hitching rides to church and marching across the pew and onto the shoulders of other unsuspecting victims (true story). Or, I am driving somewhere and feel something crawling on my neck and voila! it's a tiny hitch hiker. And yes, sometimes I will be searching for a diaper and one or two will come marching out of the diaper bag. Yuck! So, does anyone have any suggestions?? I have tried spraying the perimeter of our house with Home Defense Pro, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. Any suggestions?

On a completely different note, Alex has discovered the joy of baking cookies...

...Or, should I say, eating cookie dough while Mommy is trying to make cookies.

He tries to help me dump various ingredients in the mixer, but he always ends up dipping his measuring cup in to steal a few bites...
He takes this job very seriously.

And, he thinks that I don't have a clue...LOL!

I hate ants!!!!!!! We get them all the time too. We use Terro like crazy... EVERYWHERE!! And we found out from poison control (yes, Millie tried a bit) that a child could down a whole bottle of the stuff and it won't harm them, so we put it all over when we have those pesky little visitors!

I am itching all over right now by the way!

Great posts. THe ants, oh man. I wish I had advice. Maybe talk to an exterminator? That just really stinks. That water park looked so fun! And the cookie making- LOVED it!!!! Oh, my sister's coming into to town this week, but I think she'll be gone Saturday, so we could probly do dinner then! Unless I'm working, which I never know in advance. Call us, Greg and I should make dinner this time.

That is totally the best way to "help" make cookies, haha! and good luck with the ants...no great suggestions here. I'm with Rochelle, just be glad they're not earwigs or ROACHES! we used Terro all the time when we had ants, and had some minor success with the whole putting a line of flour or some other white powdery substance across their entry point, because they won't cross that. but that's a pain, cause it gets smudged, or whatever. Anyway, yeah...

is that a cookie mixer??!! one of the coolest appliances ever.
we have the ants, too, and i've heard that the environmentalists have successfully gotten rid of the products on the market that actually work...but hey, if your kids drinks the bottle of stuff, maybe we should be grateful...maybe.

Try sprinkling salt in their path(ie on the countertops/or wherever you think they live). It disorients them so that they cannot recall their routes and usually works. saltwater sprayed from a bottle does the same thing.
PS We miss you guys!
